The Longfin Indigo Dottyback is a Captive-Bred hybrid fish, known for its striking bluish-purple body, black stripes inherited from the Striped Dottyback, and a more docile temperament than many other dottyback species. Growing to about 3 inches, it thrives in reef-safe saltwater aquariums of 30 gallons or more, requiring a diet of meaty foods like mysis shrimp, and benefits from live rock for hiding.

Physical Characteristics

Hybrid Origin:A cross between the Orchid Dottyback (Pseudochromis fridmani) and the Striped Dottyback (Pseudochromis sankeyi).

Coloration:Features an indigo or bluish-purple body with distinctive horizontal black stripes.

Size:Grows up to 3 inches in length.

Behavior & Temperament

Docile:Generally more peaceful and docile d to other dottyback species.

Territorial:May exhibit some territorial behavior, especially towards other dottybacks or similarly shaped fish, but is considered reef-safe.

Active:Can be shy initially but becomes bolder in its aquarium, darting in and out of live rock and appearing more visible during feeding.

Diet

Carnivorous:A carnivore that readily accepts a variety of meaty foods.

Suggested Foods:Mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, krill, and other small meaty foods.

Aquarium Requirements

Tank Size:A minimum tank size of 30 gallons is for a single fish or pair.

Live Rock:Requires plenty of live rock with caves and crevices to provide hiding places.

Tankmates:Can be kept in a community tank but may require thoughtful selection of other inhabitants due to their territorial nature.
